Sexist Ads, UGH, that “Stop Staring and Take Her Picture” ad for Padre Island was plastered all over MY campus, too. I made a point to write WOMEN ARE NOT OBJECTS all over the ones I could find, or just tear them down. I realize the woman in the ad probably gave consent for her image to be used, but the damage occurs when people internalize this and come to believe that consent is not necessary to take pictures of women at the beach - and that sexual reductionism is okay. LOVE YOUR BLOG!
